ABOUT ME

BACKGROUND

Dana’s path to becoming a counselor has been deeply shaped by her own life experiences. Growing up in a family impacted by severe dysfunction, alcoholism, and abuse, she faced significant challenges early in life. Later experiences, including navigating family addictions, a difficult marriage, and the complexities of a blended family, led her to seek healthier ways of coping and healing.

During those difficult times, an incredible counselor played a meaningful role in helping Dana believe that survival and growth were possible. Those formative experiences ultimately sparked her passion for helping others who may be navigating similar hardships.

Dana earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and later completed a Post-Master’s Certificate in Counseling with a focus on trauma. She also earned a Clinical Traumatologist Certificate through the Trauma Institute of Canada. Dana specializes in working with individuals experiencing PTSD, complex trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression.

She utilizes Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based trauma treatment that can be particularly effective in helping clients process distressing memories and heal from deep emotional wounds. Dana is currently continuing her professional training and is working toward full certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy at the Basic, Advanced, and Enhanced levels.

SPECIALIZATION

COMPLEX TRAUMA

Dana has a strong clinical focus on working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma. Many people carry the long-term emotional effects of difficult life experiences, including childhood trauma, relationship trauma, or repeated exposure to stressful or harmful environments.

Complex trauma can affect how individuals experience relationships, manage emotions, and view themselves and the world around them. Dana works collaboratively with clients to help them better understand these patterns, process past experiences, and build healthier ways of coping and moving forward.

ACCELERATED RESOLUTION THERAPY (ART)

Dana has completed advanced training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals process traumatic memories and distressing experiences more effectively.

ART can be particularly helpful for individuals navigating trauma, PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and other experiences where difficult memories or images continue to impact daily life. This approach helps clients reprocess distressing memories in a way that reduces emotional intensity while allowing them to move forward with greater clarity and relief.

WHO SHE WORKS WITH

Dana works primarily with adults navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, and significant life transitions. Many of the individuals she works with have experienced long-standing emotional challenges or difficult life experiences and are seeking a safe and supportive space to begin healing.

Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, Dana helps clients build insight, develop effective coping strategies, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.
