Kaitlyn is currently receiving clinical supervision directly under Brianna Reinhold, LPC, CFRC, ERPSCC and Katlyn Lawson, LPC.
I have lived in Arizona for the last decade, learning to love all the desert has to offer, even in the hottest summers! Before Arizona, I resided in Illinois, where I received my bachelor's degree in Cognitive Psychology. I have recently graduated from Colorado Christian University with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I became interested in counseling in my adolescence as I navigated my anxiety and depression. As I came into young adulthood, I decided to leap into my counseling journey and learned that I had been struggling with ADHD and learned many different skills to strengthen my abilities and cope with stressors. My passion for counseling grew through this journey, and I wanted to help others feel empowered and advocate for themselves.
Some things to know about me are that I love my cats, Katniss, Namu, and Haku, as well as my dog, Samson! I also love working out, crocheting, anime, and spending time with my husband and family. I also have a massive board game collection and am constantly adding to it!
ABOUT ME

BACKGROUND
Kaitlyn Equitz is a Licensed Associate Counselor who works with children, teens, and adults navigating a variety of emotional and developmental challenges. She is passionate about helping clients build confidence, develop coping skills, and feel empowered to advocate for themselves.

Kaitlyn’s interest in counseling began during her adolescence as she navigated her own experiences with anxiety and depression. As she entered young adulthood, she also discovered that she was living with ADHD and began learning strategies that helped her better understand her strengths and manage life’s stressors. These personal experiences strengthened her passion for counseling and inspired her to help others feel supported and empowered in their own journeys.

Kaitlyn earned her bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Psychology in Illinois before moving to Arizona, where she has spent the past decade. She completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University and continues to expand her clinical skills while working under supervision at Northern Lights Therapy.

SPECIALIZATION
AUTISM & NEURODIVERGENCE SUPPORT
Kaitlyn has a strong interest in supporting individuals on the autism spectrum as well as clients navigating neurodivergence, ADHD, and related challenges. She works collaboratively with clients and families to build practical strategies for emotional regulation, communication, and self-advocacy while honoring each individual’s strengths and unique experiences.

Kaitlyn often incorporates play therapy techniques when working with children. Play therapy allows young clients to express emotions, process experiences, and develop coping skills in ways that feel natural and developmentally appropriate. Through play-based approaches, children can explore challenges and build confidence in a supportive and engaging therapeutic environment.

Kaitlyn also utilizes Brainspotting, a trauma-informed therapeutic approach that helps clients access and process emotions that may be difficult to express through traditional talk therapy. Brainspotting can help individuals work through stress, trauma, and emotional challenges while building greater awareness and resilience.

WHO KAITLYN WORKS WITH

Kaitlyn works with children, teens, and adults who may be navigating emotional challenges, anxiety, neurodivergence, autism, and major life transitions. She enjoys helping young clients develop emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence as they grow and navigate new experiences.
Kaitlyn strives to create a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel safe exploring their experiences and developing the tools needed to move toward greater emotional well-being.
