 Private Pay vs Insurance:

Many insurance companies restrict the services that can be provided to an individual / couple / family for a variety of reasons.  This can greatly impact the effectiveness of treatment and add additional stress to the individual seeking further services.

Private pay offers an individual further privacy as no information is reported to their insurance companies.  There are some individuals that prefer to keep their mental health private for a variety of reasons and without utilizing their insurance to help pay for services, they can feel confident their sessions are kept strictly confidential.

Another benefit of private pay is that there are no limitations on services received.  Insurance companies can restrict the frequency, length, and duration of treatment provided by a therapist without fully understanding the needs of the individual.

Private pay does not require the use of a diagnosis to be seen.  There are occasions where an individual may need to address a particular stressor, but it would not qualify as a diagnosis.  If they were to attempt to use insurance, they would be denied and/or have to be diagnosed with a qualifying disorder.  Again, limiting the availability of services.

At Northern Lights Therapy, PLLC, the goal is to help clients reach their level of healing without others dictating what that may look like.

If needed, there are options for a superbill that you can submit to insurance.  Please contact us for information regarding superbills.
